Checks include an assessment of whether a manuscript is an acceptable article type, has the appropriate declarations where necessary (such as ethics approval, consent statements, and competing interests disclosures), and has all figures, tables, and supplemental material referenced in the manuscript. All manuscripts will also be checked to ensure there is no potential for human harm.
