APC invoice tax exemption for international organisations in the EU

Certain diplomatic and international entities in the EU may be exempt from VAT for specific goods and services under international law, if accredited or recognized by their host EU country. There are limits and conditions to the exemption and additional formal requirements must be followed.

We will need to process the tax removal manually. Please go through the checkout section during the Next steps for publishing your article and either pay online or request an offline invoice. You may then send us the invoice and the required documentation (detailed below) in order for us to process an invoice correction to remove the taxes if approved.

In order for us to consider removing the VAT from your APC invoice, it is mandatory to fill out the EU-provided form completely and have it stamped and signed by the competent authority. We would ask you to use the PDF version of the form.

Afterwards, please submit the form via Contact Publishing Support (referring to the concerned invoice number). We will then get back as soon as possible. If approved and if you have paid online, we will then refund the amount overpaid. If you select an offline invoice, an admin fee of 75 USD/55 EUR/50 GBP is charged for most journals.
