Download MARC records for books or journals that were retracted since your last download

To remove retracted titles from your library system, download a list of deleted MARC records.

Get a list of “deleted” titles

1. Follow the steps in “Download MARC records for newly licensed content”, or open the bookmarked link from your first download.
2. Under “Choose filters and format”, go to “Modified date and record status”.
3. Set “Select date (starting from)” to the date when you last downloaded deleted records.
4. Select “Only deleted”.
5. Under “Choose filters and format”, go to “Format”.
6. Select “Excel title list”.
7. Check the text next to the Download button. If it says “We couldn’t find any titles”, check that you have selected the correct business models and copyright years. If your selections are correct, no titles have been deleted since your last download.

8. Download your Excel title list.

Check if you should remove the “deleted” titles

For each title in the list:

1. Open the “DOI URL”.
2. Check whether your library still has access to the full book, or to paywalled chapters in the book.
3. If your library still has access, keep the title in your library system.
4. If your library no longer has access, or the DOI URL leads to a 404 page, remove the title from your library system.

You can repeat these steps whenever you want to check for deleted titles.

Why can I still access some “deleted” titles?

Bibliographic records are marked as deleted in two situations:

1. The book has been retracted. The book is no longer available to anyone on Springer Nature Link.
2. The book can no longer be newly licensed. This happens when Springer Nature no longer has the right to license the book to libraries. The book may still be available on Springer Nature Link. Organisations that licensed it in the past may still have access.
